SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY 嘉定通寶 1216 AD

嘉 定 通 寶 JIA DING TONG BAO Orthodox script 1216 AD. during the 'Jia Ding' reign title (1208-1224 AD) of Emperor Ningzong (寧宗) (1194–1224 AD), of the Southern Song (南宋) Dynasty (1127-1279 AD). The reverse side features the Chinese number 八 (Ba)'8' above the hole, indicating the mint where the coin was cast, in the 8th year of the 'Jia Ding' reign of emperor ningzong.
Emperor Ningzong. (19 November 1168 – 17 September 1224) Another name is Zhao Kuo. The 13th emperor of the Chinese Song dynasty and the fourth emperor of the Southern Song dynasty. Reigned from 1194 until his death in 1224. The second son and only surviving child of his predecessor Guangzong and like his father, Ningzong is weak-minded and easily dominated by women. During Ningzong's reign, he had built 75 temples and memorial steles, the most in Song history. After Ningzong's death, the minor official Ningzong's relative became Emperor Lizong.
